This Privacy Policy explains how getwordcount.com ("the Site", "we", "us") handles information when you use our online text tools. Our approach is simple: the tools are designed to work entirely in your browser, so in normal use we neither see nor store the text you enter.
The short version
- Your text stays on your device. Every tool — the word counter, converters, generators and the rest — runs locally in your browser. The content you type or paste is not transmitted to our servers.
- No accounts. You don't need to register, and we don't ask for your name, email or any personal details to use the tools.
- Minimal storage. We use your browser's local storage only to remember preferences such as your light/dark theme choice. This never leaves your device.
Information we process
Content you enter. Text you place into a tool is processed in your browser to produce a result and is not sent to us. Drafts are held temporarily in the current tab’s memory so you can switch between tools without losing your work. They are not written to local storage or sent to a server. Reloading the page or closing the tab discards these drafts. The Clear action removes the current text, with a temporary Undo option.
Local preferences. Small settings (for example, your theme preference) are saved in your browser's local storage so the Site remembers them on your next visit. You can clear these at any time from your browser settings.
Technical logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information — such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested — for security and to keep the Site running. These logs are used only for operating and protecting the Site.
Cookies
The Site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Any values stored in your browser are functional (such as your theme preference) and are not used to profile you or follow you across other websites.
Third parties
We use analytics served from stats.admk.com to understand which pages are useful and improve the Site. The analytics request includes the page address and title, referring page, browser language and screen dimensions. The receiving server also receives the network information needed to handle the request, such as your IP address.
