Wondering how many pages your essay or report will be? Enter a word count — or paste your text to count it automatically — then choose a font size and line spacing to estimate the number of pages it fills.
It is the quickest way to check an assignment against a page requirement before you have finished writing, or to see how much more you need to add.
How to use the words to pages converter
- Type your word count into the box, or paste your text to have it counted for you.
- Pick your font size and line spacing to match your document.
- Read the estimated page count instantly.
How the estimate works
A standard page holds about 500 words single-spaced, or 250 words double-spaced, in a 12 pt font with normal margins. Larger fonts and wider spacing fit fewer words per page. Because real documents also contain headings, images, tables and varied paragraph breaks, treat the result as a close estimate rather than an exact page number.
Word count to pages chart
| Word count | Single-spaced | Double-spaced |
|---|---|---|
| 250 words | ½ page | 1 page |
| 500 words | 1 page | 2 pages |
| 1,000 words | 2 pages | 4 pages |
| 1,500 words | 3 pages | 6 pages |
| 2,000 words | 4 pages | 8 pages |
| 5,000 words | 10 pages | 20 pages |
Figures assume a 12 pt font and standard one-inch margins.
